I just published Episode 60 of my ongoing Matthew Van Der Boot series!
For those of you unfamiliar, the series is written in hypertext fiction, which is essentially a modern version of those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books that were popular in the 80s. However, my story leans more toward YA Adventure/Romance and less toward Dungeons & Dragons—but you get the idea.
Here’s the premise: You are fifteen-year-old Matthew Van Der Boot, and at the end of each episode, you are given the choice of what to do next. With every decision you make, a different story path unfolds. So, even if you read one storyline to its conclusion, you can always go back and make different choices to explore alternative outcomes. Hopefully, you’ll be tempted to do so because the overall story comes together more fully with each scenario you read.
The adventure takes place in a single day: Friday, October 7, 1983. And let me tell you, a lot can happen in one day—and it does—even without the internet or cell phones! As you can imagine, the story is full of 80s nostalgia: the good, the bad, and of course, the music—oh my God, the music!
